*cringes*

I can only imagine having to solve the member forces for all those haphazardly placed boards in order to determine its weight limit. :( I know, I've been taking mechanics classes way too long.

Used any CAD programs during your courses?

Sure I've taken a course AutoCAD, used Maple for solving member forces, and will likely take a course in Solid Works to give me 3D stress testing experience. Problem is, before teachers let you use that kind of software they first make you learn to do it by hand. ;) That's what Statics and Mechanics of Materials are for. Until you've done it by hand you have no comprehension of what the software is doing.

After throughly examining the tower, I'd say it can support 42.

I never said 42 what. Oh, and yes, structures do have the nasty habit of falling apart when you don't use anything to fasten them together.

Just the force of gravity at work there. And the fact that Blender corrects overlaps between objects by launching them in opposite directions (without use of constraints)
It's just much more fun and user friendly than TurboCAD
