Flattered for being included on the list, can't believe Sarine didn't make it on, but she is about as elusive in the game as Sune (still a top notch player though).

So what keeps people from stuffing the ballot box and what do we do with this info once polling is closed? The ever mythical tournament of champions?

Yes, haven't been around for a while, was off doing this for a couple of weeks (besides being slammed at work and personal stuff at home).

I was thinking of using the final positions as a starting point for an on-going ranking ladder. Still have to work out details yet... haven't decided whether to make it simple (challenge only the player one position above you) or more complex (challenge anyone and earn more points for beating someone higher up the ladder). I'm open to suggestions/ideas

It should be like a point based system. Scissors beats paper, but if it could only face the player above (rock) then it won't go far. Each person has a strength and weakness. Just like the game I mentioned

Yeah, I'm leaning in that direction, G, but I don't want to make it too complicated. I like the idea of playing anyone to get points, as it can be difficult for 2 specific players in different timezones to coordinate. I'm thinking of taking 3 factors into account: the difference between each player's position on the ladder, the number of players involved (so players can earn points from Octopus, Fortress, Chain Reaction, etc) and the number of games played (so crap players can't score shitloads of points, just by playing a million games, and overtake players who are obviously better than them)

Does anyone for any reason think that I should extend the length of the polls? I can add on a second week to them, it would not be a problem at all. I wanted to give everyone who visited here semi-frequently a chance to vote; so far there have been at least 13 people who voted.
