Since I know Sune monitors all threads. (How else would he end flame wars?)

For God's sake dude (throw in Buddha too) I emailed you about this. I understand the economy sucks, but so does the current business plan for TT2. I know you can't work on it until the economy gets better, HOWEVER, how about some initiatives? Start a fund raising something something. Webcomic artists do that. Make a "Donate" button and for every X dollars (500 maybe?) you'll add something new or such. It can be done with paypal, swiftly and secure.

Stagnation is possibly the worst thing that can happen to a game. You risk losing old time players and new players won't stay for long. So as I see it, a fundraising project would benefit the game. Heck, I wouldn't mind throwing a few dollars in if you start one.

Now I'll sit back and watch a flamewar. I expect a bunch of noobs coming in here and going "look at the announcement". Well the announcement is an year old. I don't know about you, but considering an average human being lives around 75 years, it's far too long for my taste. Cheers.

How much is a few dollars? I've thought about buying more oddies, even though my account is fully upgraded, but unless we're given a guarantee of any further development (even a small step) once we reach a set target, I probably won't. There is still a hardcore group of players who probably feel the same way: we want to help, so please tell us how/if we can.

I can accept that the economic climate has stalled any progress, but an update, or some dialogue, about the current situation, or the suggestions that have been put forward by the TT2 community would be nice.

@Dak - A few dollars can vary from 2 to 20 depending on how much there needs raised. Also I myself won't buy oddies unless there's new content added. Not to be ungrateful, but I simply don't see a point if I can only do multiplayer :)

I don't mean to damper on this idea but $20 each from even 100 players is not going to buy much developer time at all. They would need proper investors. The best sign they could give potential investors might be if players were willing to pay something like $5 a month to play.

Nobody is going to pay per time period, they're much more likely to pay per upgrade. That's how all the big games keep people interested: expansion packs.

100*20=2000

Convert to Danish currency by multiplying by 5.

10.000 kroner (I'm Danish) isn't something you can live off. Now let's say taxes take 50%. 5.000 kroner is still a pretty good pay day. And heck, it's like they should be raising money for a new game. Only some hour pay to make it worthwhile.

Investors could be interesting, maybe something like ads during the loading screen.

I don't think anyone would be willing to pay $5 a month to play TT2. Nor do I believe developers are going to produce an expansion pack for a small community of gamers, with or without investors. The App Store for the Mac launches in a few months time but for Oddlabs to make any money they would have to alter the game so it isn't free to play. I think it could be quite successful in the App Store at $9.99-14.99.

Just remembered that the Mac App Store wont be accepting Java applications. All a bit of a bummer really :wall:

...and therein lies the rub. It's a classic catch-22 situation :?

Who knows Haloman. It can only help if you buy some oddies. If you haven't got every upgrade yet, go for it.
