Technical SupportIf you have problems downloading, installing, running, or playing a game, you can get technical support either by posting in our Support Forum or e-mailing Oddlabs Support Documentation» Tribal Trouble Key Reference Chart Frequently Asked Questions
1. The game crashes / freezes / does not start / behaves oddly - what do I do? (top)First step: Check that your system meets the minimum requirements (found on the download page). Second step: Ensure that you have the latest video card drivers installed - see our video card driver update guide. Third step: Try changing the settings file for better compatibility. If the problem persists, please submit a bug report. See the forum thread on how to submit a bug report. We will then do our best to resolve the problem if it is caused by Tribal Trouble itself. 2. I bought the game online but haven't received a registration key yet (top)The three most common reasons are:
GeneraIly, if you have not received your registration key email within an hour from purchase, please contact support and we will help you out. 3. I have lost my registration key, can you send it to me again? (top)Sure, you can have your registration keys resent via this page. 4. I'm having trouble registering the game (top)If you have problems registering the game because you have no internet connection or a very restrictive firewall, you can register offline by using our offline registration service that will email you a registration file enabling you to register the game without requiring an internet connection. 5. Registration or update fails (top)Check that your Tribal Trouble installation directory is writable. This problem most often occurs on Mac OS X if you forget to move the unpacked TribalTrouble directory to your desktop or Applications folder, or on Linux if you install the game as root and then run it as a normal user. 6. I have lost the username/password for my user login (top)You can set a new password from the Lost password page. 7. What are the system requirements to run Tribal Trouble? (top)See the download page. 8. Where can I find some documentation for Tribal Trouble? (top)For a quick reference sheet, have a look at the Key Reference Chart page. you can also download a full manual here (or via the Tribal Trouble download page) 9. Will you provide localized versions? (top)Tribal Trouble includes the following languages at the moment: English, German, Spanish and Danish. Anyone interested in doing the French localization are welcome to contact us. 10. Can I join a running multiplayer game? (top)No, this is not normal for realtime strategy games. 11. Will Tribal Trouble support LAN multiplayer games? (top)No, only online multiplayer games. However, the game will detect and utilize LAN connections between clients to minimize lag. 12. How can I get access to the second half of the campaign? (top)In order to play the Native campaign you need to complete the Viking campaign first. If you for some reason don't want to play through the Viking campaign, you can unlock the Native campaign by editing the settings file found in the installation directory and set has_native_campaign=true 13. Can I change the key mappings? (top)No, this is not supported (yet). 14. I'm a game reviewer - can I have the full version to review? (top)Yes, we provide free copies of Tribal Trouble if the review website/magazine has an audience of a certain size. Email us (contact information) and provide us with some information about the website/magazine you write for as well as a link to its website (preferably using an email address with a matching domain name). Serious enquiries only, please! 15. Is Tribal Trouble available for AMD64? (top)Tribal Trouble works well on AMD64 in Windows and Linux, but a version specifically for AMD64 will not be made. 16. Will Tribal Trouble be available for Linux PPC? (top)No, unfortunately not. The Linux PPC users are a really small minority, so we would rather focus on other priorities. 17. Will you open source Tribal Trouble someday? (top)Short answer: Perhaps. With that in mind, we have of course also considered open sourcing Tribal Trouble some day, but first we need to establish a living from making games. However, we wouldn't mind open sourcing it in, say, 5 years, when our future game projects have taken over. 18. How can I enable ingame FPS stats? (top)Because TT uses vsync in order to avoid visual artifacts and excesive CPU usage, the FPS will never be higher than the refresh rate of the screen. Therefore we have not added an option for this. However, if you really want to see it, you can edit the settings file in you tribal trouble folder and set draw_status to true. If you want accurate readings you will need to disable vsync by setting vsync to false. 19. Why have you included .svn directories in the installation, isn't that some kind of mistake? (top)No, we actually use Subversion for the game's built-in online update system, so you'll break the installation if you remove the .svn dirs! 20. [Windows specific] Tribal Trouble keeps minimizing (top)This is caused by other programs stealing focus from Tribal Trouble. Try shutting down all other programs while playing Tribal Trouble. Folding@Home is known to cause this problem even if it runs minimized in the system tray. 21. [Windows specific] My antivirus program claims that the Tribal Trouble installer is infected with virus (top)This is most probably caused by an overreacting antivirus program or infection of the installer file after you have downloaded it. All installers are thoroughly checked for virus before they are made available for download. 22. [Mac OS X specific] When the game starts, I only get a white blank screen (top)This is a known randomly occurring issue that we are trying to resolve at the moment. Try restarting the game (press Cmd+Alt+Esc to force-quit the game) or running the game in windowed mode (Ctrl-click on Tribal Trouble, select Show Package Contents, go to the Contents/Resources/Java folder, edit the "settings" file and set "fullscreen = false"). 23. [Mac OS X specific] Sometimes the native cursor is visible in windowed mode (top)This is caused by an error in the Mac OS X Java implementation. A bug report has been submitted to Apple. 24. [Mac OS X specific] Display is corrupted (top)Try disabling VBO: Ctrl-click on Tribal Trouble, select Show Package Contents, go to the Contents/Resources/Java folder, edit the "settings" file and set "use_vbo = false". 25. [Mac OS X 10.2.x specific] The fullscreen window is displaced (top)This is caused by an error in the Mac OS X Java implementation. A bug report has been submitted to Apple. 27. [Mac OS X 10.3.9 specific] Game fails to start (top)There is a known issue with Java (which Tribal Trouble is dependent on) and Mac OS X 10.3.9. If you have recently installed/updated to 10.3.9, try the following workaround: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/securityupdate2005002macosx1034orlater.html You will need to install the security update (and probably restart) before Java and Tribal Trouble will run again. 28. [Mac OS X 10.4 specific] Game fails to start (top)There have been some issues with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger". These problems should have been fixed now, so please Download the latest version and try again. 29. [Linux specific] I get an error containing "org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Could not create a direct GLX context" (top)Your video drivers probably do not support hardware acceleration. Try installing the latest official drivers and run the game again. To test if hardware acceleration is supported, try the following command from a shell: 30. [Linux specific] I get an error containing "org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Error loading libGL.so.1: libnvidia-tls.so.1: cannot handle TLS data" (top)Try this tip: http://imgseek.sourceforge.net/faq.html#faq3. 31.
